Product Specifications

** You only need 1 GFCI to power your snow melting system, unless your system runs over 14amps **
This appliance has a grounded three-prong plug. To reduce the risk of electric shock, the power cord is connected to a power plug with leakage protection (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter - GFCI power unit). It will turn off the power in the event of a short circuit. Do not attempt to alter,
disassemble, or tamper with the safety plug in any way.

The GFCI power cord is 2 meters, 4 meters, 6 meters or 8 meters long; place the power cord outside the walkway area to avoid tripping.
The plug and GFCI should stay dry at ALL times.

Use the built-in TEST button to check your GFCI outlets at least once a month. Press the TEST button; you should hear an audible click, and the light should go off. If nothing happens, further investigation or replacement is needed. Press the RESET button to return the GFCI to its usable state.

Please note that all IceTrek rubber snow melting mats require our GFCI power cord for operation. Only one GFCI is needed to power your snow melting system. However, if your system exceeds 14 amps, an additional GFCI will be required. For more important details about our GFCIs, please refer to the Product Specifications below.

Why Do I Need To Use a GFCI?

Integral to the IceTrek System, the GFCI Power Unit is designed for outdoor use and comes equipped with your choice of 2,4,6 or 8 meter cord and a built-in Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). A GFCI allows the snow mats operate safely by monitoring for electrical anomalies and disconnecting the power to prevent accidents and equipment damage. This ensures a secure and protected link from your home’s external power source to the mat system it supports. It’s a standard safety feature that is both a practical and a regulatory requirement for snow melting systems.
